SUMMARY:  The Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs, activities, events, and communications that strategically engage alumni and grandparents in the life of the school, and facilitate and strengthen connections within and among the alumni and grandparent constituents and the school. In addition, assists the Director of Events with various aspects of on-campus and off-campus events and special programs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create and execute a plan that results in growth for alumni and grandparent programming as demonstrated through increased alumni and grandparent involvement in the school
  • Support all alumni and grandparent events and other special events as needed
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Alumni and Grandparents' Councils. This includes enlisting, training and motivating volunteer members and planning and executing productive meetings
  • Where appropriate, work collaboratively with the communications department regarding alumni and grandparent online community for the website, email blasts, social media, e-newsletters, letters, mailings, and surveys to augment outreach
  • Plan, manage, and execute programing that engages alumni and enriches and fosters the alumni community service program
  • Integrate alumni and grandparent giving into the school's fundraising programs; specifically the annual fund and capital campaigns
  • Prepare reports and presentations including formatting and proofreading for various committees and staff meetings
  • Manage special projects and events throughout the year
  • Assist Director of Events to coordinate event logistics including working with outside vendors and internal staff
  • Assist with smooth execution of events which include set-up and breakdown


  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Three or more years experience in alumni relations, fundraising, event planning for school or non-profit organization(s), preferably in the areas of constituency engagement
  • Experience with events desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to enjoy getting to know the school's diverse constituencies
  • Must be a self-starter and have strong organizational and managerial skills, preferably with experience volunteer management
  • The ability to moderate effective and stimulating meetings
  • Must have a cooperative team approach with colleagues and willingness to take on responsibilities beyond those explicitly defined
  • Good sense of humor and ability to be part of a closely interactive team of advancement professionals


  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and preferably with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge
  • Ability to provide one's own general clerical support
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Experience in a school or organization that has a robust volunteer program and multiple events is preferred
